Oh! Those California boys. Incubus concluded the final leg of their tour in the big "D." After watching them in Austin, where the crowd was considerably more laid back yet as appreciative, the juxtaposition of the Dallas show demonstrated the energy shared between Incubus and their fans.
Their prophetic poetics have helped more people than imaginable. The crowd demonstrated repeatedly their cohesion with Incubus by singing along word for word. Lead singer Brandon Boyd asked everyone to take care of each other reminding this reviewer of a more peaceful time in concert history. At one point, Brandon and guitarist Mike Enziger were joined by Phantom Planet during an accoustic set, demonstrating the friendship and respect shared between the bands.
Following Phantom Planet's exit, Brandon, on cue from bassist Dirk Lance, began to sing "Earth Angel". A hurled water bottle interrupted the song with Brandon remarking, "Hey, it's a classic!"
The visual effects supporting their lyrics were reminiscent of the 70's psychedelic scene with a modern edge. Incubus has attained "super star" status and deservedly so. They incorporate the "whole package" while maintaining a hold on what's important and their fans appreciate the positive vibes emanating from them. The exchange of energy is exhilarating.
Incubus is a band doing it the right way, lyrically, musically, and spiritually. Kudos to them.
