From Autumn To Ashes
Vans Warped Tour 2003
Selma, Texas
Amelia and Jay stopped by the Vans Warped Tour in Selma, Texas to catch some of the up and coming acts. They sat down with Bassist Mike Pilato of From Autumn to Ashes for his very first interview ever. Don't forget to pick up their new album, The Fiction We Live, due out from Vagrant Records on September 9.
AMELIA: Since this is your first interview, my first question has to be changed up a little bit. Instead of asking you what has been the most annoying question you've been asked on this tour so far, I'll ask: What could be the most annoying question an interviewer could ask you about this tour?
MIKE PILATO: Hmm.I guess it'd be something like 'How do you feel on tour?' Everyone seems to ask that in interviews I read.
A: Can you define your band in three words?
MP: Let's see. Crazy, WHAT?!, and. 'What the hell did I just see?'
A: That's not three words.
MP: Oh, oh yeah. OK. How about.FATA.
A: FATA? What's that?
MP: That's what all of our fans call us.
A: Ah! I see. Short for From Autumn To Ashes.
A: Now, for this next question, I'm going to assume that you've seen The Goonies.
MP: Please! VHS, DVD, Special Edition..
A: So who's your favorite Goonies character?
MP: Oh! Data. Definitely.
A: And why is that?
MP: He's the man! He always comes through. All those little gadgets and toys. Data's just cool.
A: We ask this next question to everyone we interview. If you were jello, what kind would you be?
MP: Jello? I don't really like jello. How do I answer that? What kind would you be?
A: I wouldn't. I'm a vegetarian. I don't eat jello.
MP: See!
JAY: How about koolaid?
MP: Oh, grape, without a doubt. With whipped cream over strawberries, and some sugar.
A: Ok, that'll work. Now that wasn't too hard was it?
MP: Are we done??
A: Yep. I promised it'd be quick and painless.
MP: I can do another question. Give me one more!
A: Alright then. What's your favorite song on the album?
MP: Take her to the music. It's my favorite to listen to.
A: Is there another one that's your favorite for something else? Like your favorite one to record?
MP: Yeah. I had the most fun recording Short Stories.
A: What made it stand out for you in the studio?
MP: There was so much put into it. A lot of different elements and sounds.
A: Well thankyou, and good luck with your future interviews!
MP: Thankyou! |
