Eve 6 Interview
Dallas, Texas
08/06/03

Bandchat.org correspondents Jay and amelia checked in with Eve 6 bassist Jon Siebels on their tour stop in Dallas. Interview by Jay, photos by Amelia.

Jay - Ok let's get started. What's the most annoying question you've been asked in interviews this tour?
Jon - It's more of a statement. 'So you guys were signed in high school.' Like they expect me to say something after that. Yeah, we were signed in high school. But the interviewer already knew that. What's the question, you know?
Jay - Define your band in 3 words.
Jon - Song Based Pop
Jay - How did the band start?
Jon - Max and I met freshman year in high school. We met Tony senior year.
Jay - So that's when you were 'eleventeen'?
Jon - Yeah, we changed our name from eleventeen cause Tony joined. It was a new start. New Songs. New Name. Before eleventeen, we were called Yakoo.
Jay - The name Eve 6 is taken from an episode of X-files. So, who's the X-Files fan?
Jon - Tony had the first 2 seasons when we recorded the first cd. We would pop in the tape and watch 2 episodes at a time. Max saw the episode with all the Eves and just thought Eve 6 was a cool name. So it stuck.
Jay - What's your favorite song on the new album?
Jon - Good Lives. Says it all for us.
Jay - How about your favorite song to perform live?
Jon - At Least We're Dreaming. It has good energy.
Jay - Are you going play any old songs tonight?
Jon - Yeah, There's a pretty even mix of each cd. I think if it's a song someone's wanting to hear, they'll hear it when we play live.
Jay - Why did it take so long to come back to Texas?
[last time they played a show in Texas was April 27, 1999 in Austin]
Jon - We took 2 years off, so we hadn't been to a lot of places in a while. I don't know why we didn't come to Texas. And it also took awhile to record the new cd.
Jay - If you were us what you would ask yourself?
Jon - I don't know. Hmmmm.Let's get come back to that. I don't ask questions.
Jay - What's your favorite commercial?
Jon - Our buddy Kevin Christy is in that commercial. You know. 'I sell doors, door-to-door.' He's the one that did the cover art for the new L.P.
Jay - If you are what you eat, what are you based on what you've been eating this tour?
Jon - A fried fry. We eat lots of fried food. And Pizza.
Jay - If you were jello, what kind of jello would you be?
Jon - Plain red. In little cups. With Vodka.
Jay - I just have one last question. Back to 'If you were us, what would you ask yourself.'
Jon - How did you guys get your stunning good looks?
Jay - And How did you guys get your stunning good looks?
Jon - From our parents.
