Cross Canadian Ragweed
Austin, TX
Bandchat.org correspondent Heather Chaney sat down with Cross Canadian Ragweed at their tour stop in Austin, TX.
How was recording the album, Purple?
Cody: Fun
Randy: It was fun, we got to spend a lot of time on it and concentrate on our different parts and it all just came together.
Where did you record it?
Jeremy: Real Time Audio
Randy: In Texas
What singles are to be expected from this album?
Cody: seventeen, and don't need you, and a little bit down the line I think we're gonna do Broken
When did you sign to the new label?
Cody: September 1, is that right?
Grady: about that, I think it was the middle of august,
Cody: Yeah, because they had a month to get the album out.
Grady: Yeah, middle of August
How is the tour schedule looking for the future? Is it pretty busy this season to promote the new album?
Cody: It's always busy. We're always on the road
So do you like being on the road this much, or do you prefer spending more time in the studio?
Cody: We like it, we like it on the road
Grady: It's a lot of fun
Randy: We're beginning to like studio too, that's what's cool about this last album we could get comfortable so everybody's going to come in to their own
About how long did you spend making the album?
Randy: about nine days, wasn't it?
Jeremy: nine days
What kind of response have you gotten so far from Purple, is it what you were hoping for?
Cody: yeah, actually we haven't got one bad response yet.
Are there any songs on the album that have a special meaning to you?
Cody: On a Cloud, It's for OSU, a basketball team, some of them died in a plane crash and we played the night they died in Stillwater, so it means a lot to me.
How has touring been so far, is it hectic, and do you guys get in fights a lot when on the road?
Cody: No, we never argue
Grady: Basically it's just the same; it's just a little busier.
Cody: Yeah
What's your favorite place to play?
Cody: man.
Grady: man, all of them are pretty cool. I don't know, we're doing the Cotton Bowl tomorrow
What do you see yourself doing in five years?
Randy: This
Cody: Hopefully doing this, yeah
What has been your biggest influence musically?
Cody: Waylon Jennings, once we even did a Waylon Jennings tribute show
What keeps you guys going on the road?
Grady: Friends
Cody: The crowds, the crowds get bigger
A bandchat.org tradition; If you could be jell-o, what flavor would you be?
Cody: cherry
Randy: orange
Jeremy: blue raspberry
Grady: cherry
