Headstrong
Album Review
By: Katie Little
Tapped to fill the opening spot on the 2nd half of Tommy Lee's Never a Dull Moment Tour, Headstrong could have just as readily been billed with the Anger Management Tour. Both tour names offer insight into this band's title and tunes.
Headstrong comes across quickly as hard hitting with brutally honest emotion. "All of the Above" lays out energetic rock with thought provoking lyrics and imagery.
"Adriana" the first single released off the album, wraps listenability around anguish, entreating on e to "figure it out". Played against solid rocking riffs, driving bass lines, and pulsating drums, Headstrong pulls it all together with lyrics that swirl you into the vortex of their cerebral creation.
The recently released "Swing harder" carries on the theme of frustration, anger, and angst, lyrically tied to strong, passionate vocals and frenetic but flowing rhythms.
Other tracks are not as uniquely charged as the three previously mentioned, however, they carry a heavy sound that could pull the best metal head into Headstrong's current.
If you're a true rocker, there is plenty on this album to sate your musical appetite. POP ADVISORY: Pop patsies beware - this IS ROCK! Headstrong gets a definite "CHECK THEM OUT" for the summer tours of 2002.
