Cross Canadian Ragweed - Purple
Album Review
By: Heather Chaney
Cross Canadian Ragweed's latest release, Purple , is a long-stride departure from the band's previous releases Carney , Live and Loud at the Wormy Dog , Highway 377 , and Live and Loud at Billy Bob's . The new album is a masterpiece with an alternative sound and a Texas Country twang. CCR has created a whole new genre of music, not only appealing to Texas Country music fans, but to the alternative rock population as well.
The first single, "17", is a down to earth song that every small town individual can relate to. The song's mellow tones create a universal song with an amazing sound. Other tracks included in the album add to the unique sound that Cross Canadian Ragweed has developed over their eight-year-run as a band. The album contains a wide range of musical tastes from "Other side", with a heavy country sound, to "Don't Need You", with a heavy alternative sound, and a mix of both throughout the album.
By far one of the best albums of the year, CCR is sure to see rising success and a new breed of fans. "Purple" intertwines rock and Texas Country to create a superior blend of music that is sure to please the masses.
